Managing School Improvement

All phases - school based INSET

The aim of this course is to provide management teams with a structured approach to the implementation of current initiatives.

Schools are under increasing pressure to improve levels of attainment and have to manage a number of initiatives in order to meet this imperative, eg:

• Data analysis and target setting
• Improving teaching and learning
• School self-review
• Literacy/numeracy strategies
• etc., etc...

This project aims to help schools to manage the implementation of these demands in a coherent manner.

The objectives of the course are to develop and secure:

• The establishment of clear focus and direction in the school
• Realistic action planning
• The commitment of staff
• Monitoring and evaluation
• Accountability to relevant stakeholders

The course is school based and aimed at senior management teams working together. Headteachers should negotiate this opportunity with their school adviser.
