Provision and Maintenance of All Types of Instruments
All standard types of instruments are available for loan to schools. Instruments are hired termly and a fee is charged. Normally instruments are hired for no longer than 2 years after which it is expected that the student will purchase their own instrument. If a child is having lessons with a Music Service Teacher in a Northimberland School and provided the instrument can be taken to lessons every week, they may be eligible to use the NCMS Instrument Purchase Scheme and save the VAT on their purchase.

When hiring a County instrument parents must ensure that the instrument is insured. Normal wear and tear is covered within the maintenance charge although string players are responsible for replacing strings/bridges and woodwind players will need to supply their own reeds.
