Instrumental Tuition

Instrumental tuition is available on all standard instruments and voice, as well as in traditional and world music styles.
We also can provide demonstrations and initial planning visits to advise on:

Funding of lessons
Suitability of pupils for all types of instruments
Availability of instruments
Group sizes
Annual reports
Attendance at parents’ evenings
Availability for school concerts
Preparation for examinations
General planning in relation to the curriculum

We currently deliver instrumental and vocal tuition to 4,500 pupils in 140 schools in Northumberland. This number has increased annually since 1997, and we are steadily adding new instruments. This often starts when one or more music teacher visits a school give a short demonstration concert to interested pupils.

Teaching can be in classical, jazz, traditional and world styles, including improvisation and Rockschool. In 2004 we introduced a new examination scheme in conjunction with Trinity College, London. These exams are partly assessed by the pupil’s teacher and partly by an external examiner. Charges are lower than those of other music examination boards.
