Symphony Orchestra

Director: TBA
Standard: Strings Grade 4/5, Brass Grade 6 min. Woodwind Grade 7 minimum or equivalent, Percussion Grade 7/8
Repertoire: Standard orchestral repertoire.
Rehearsals: 5 day residential course and 4 evening rehearsals at Hepscott Park
Experience: It is expected that all members will have experience of playing in school ensembles and, where relevant, experience of the county ensembles

Standard: An ensemble for all levels from beginners to advanced drumming, aimed at students with a genuine
interest in World Music from Salsa to Samba, from Jazz to Funk, from Classical to Cole and Rhumba to Rock!
Rehearsals: 2 Sunday rehearsals in the Autumn term, 2 Sunday rehearsals spring term followed by a 5 day rehearsal week in the Summer term in the Morpeth area where students will record their own cd
Membership: Teacher Recommendation
Cost: £150

Please Note: Transport will not be provided for rehearsals.

Jazz Orchestra		Intermediate Wind Band
Director: Dave Hignett Standard: Grade 7 minimum or equivalent Repertoire: Traditional Big Band /Modern/ Latin/Jazz Funk and Rock. The emphasis ison the development of improvisation skills Rehearsals: One day per month plus a 2 day residential weekend course Experience: It is expected that all members will have experience of playing in school ensembles Membership:Auditions Cost: £200		Director: Rob O’Neill Standard: Woodwind Grade 4, Brass Grade 3 or equivalent, Percussion Grade 4 Repertoire: Chosen to develop technique and ensemble skills in preparation for more advanced orchestras and bands Rehearsals: 2 day residential weekend and 8 three hour rehearsal sessions at Hepscott Park Experience: Students are expected to support their school ensembles Membership: Auditions Cost: £150

Intermediate String Orchestra		Intermediate Jazz Orchestra
Director: Jacky Craig Standard: Grade 2/3 minimum or equivalent Repertoire: A range of music in different styles to develop technique and ensemble skills Rehearsals: 2 day residential weekend and 8 three hour rehearsal sessions at Hepscott Park Experience: Intermediate String Orchestra is intended to provide large ensemble experience for string players with a view to students playing in the Symphony Orchestra Membership: Auditions Cost: £150		Director: Stuart Davies Standard: Grade 3 Repertoire: Traditional Big Band/Modern/Latin/Jazz Funk and Rock. To develop Big Band ensemble and improvisation skills in preparation for the Jazz Orchestra and Concert Band Rehearsals: 1 day per month plus a 2 day residential weekend course Experience: It is expected that all members will have experience of playing in school ensembles Membership: Auditions Cost: £150

ROCK BAND		Symphonic Brass Band
Directors: Martin Campbell / Geoff Hutchinson Standard: Grade 3 (or similar) on guitar, keyboards, drums, bass and vocals Repertoire: Classic and modern rock standards chosen to develop technique, performance, improvisation and ensemble skills Rehearsals: 1 evening session per month in the Morpeth area Cost: £100		Director: Rob O’Neill Standard: Grade 4 minimum or equivalent Repertoire: Exciting new Symphonic Brass arrangements Rehearsals: 10 evening rehearsals at St Hild Church Jesmond Experience: Students are expected to support their school ensembles Membership: Teacher Recommendation Cost: No charge. Supported by Greggs PLC, The Greggs Trust and The Greggs Bakery Band
